Nature is part of how a space is lived in.
It should be felt, experienced and grown among - not simply placed there to be looked at.

About Ratural
Ratural is a nature-integrated design and horticulture studio. We design, create and care for living spaces where nature is part of the place itself - not an addition, not an afterthought.

Most companies that work with plants fall into one of two categories. A landscaping contractor who builds and installs. A gardening service that maintains. The design is often separate from the horticulture, and the care is separate from both.
Ratural is different. We bring design, horticulture, creation and long-term care together as one connected process - because a living space is not a product you deliver once. It is an environment you create, and then continue to shape as it grows.
Designed. Created. Cared for.
Why we exist
Architecture is planned around structure, function and appearance. Lighting is designed. Materials are chosen. Flow is considered. And then, often at the end, a few plants are brought in to soften what was already built.
But plants grow. Light changes through the day and across seasons. Climate shapes what can thrive. People use spaces in ways that shift over time. And living environments need ongoing care to remain healthy.
When nature is considered only after a space is designed, it rarely reaches its potential. The plants struggle. The composition fades. The space doesn't become what it could.
Ratural was created to change this - to bring nature into the design from the beginning, and to stay with the space as it grows.
What we believe
It should be felt, experienced and grown among - not simply placed there to be looked at.
A balcony can become a garden. A terrace, an outdoor room. An office, a calmer place to think. The potential is already there. We help it emerge.
Considered, not contrived. Present, not imposed - as if it had always been there.
A Ratural space is a living system that evolves, deepens and becomes more itself each season.
Core values
Our values describe who we are and how we behave - the qualities we want to embody in every project, conversation and decision.
We design with long-term environmental responsibility in mind - considering resources, plant choices, materials, longevity and the health of the living systems we create.
Plants, climates, materials and design are constantly teaching us something new. We stay curious and continue to learn.
Good living spaces are built through attention to detail, thoughtful choices and disciplined execution.
Trust begins with clear communication, honest recommendations and doing what we say we will do.
Our work begins with genuine respect for living systems and a desire to help more people experience them every day.
We begin by understanding the people who will live, work or gather in the space.
Every place has different possibilities. We look for thoughtful solutions rather than repeating the same formula.
We want our work to contribute to greener, more engaging places and stronger connections between people and nature.
Principles
Our values describe who we are. Our principles describe how we work - the practical design philosophy behind every decision we make.
Every space has potential. We begin by asking what it could become.
A space must work for the people who use it, not just look right on the day it is finished.
Light, climate, water, soil and seasonality are not limitations to hide; they are part of the design.
We select plants for where they will actually grow well, not simply for how they look on the day of installation.
A living environment should become richer and more beautiful as it matures.
The life of a garden continues after the project is completed.
Stronger living environments support a wider relationship with nature.
People should feel empowered to understand, grow and care for plants.
A space should be beautiful, useful and appropriate to its setting.
Better gardens contribute to greener homes, workplaces and communities.
From belief to practice
It is easy to write values on a page. What matters is whether they change what happens on the ground.
At Ratural, they do.
We listen before we design.
We study the conditions of a space - its light, climate, architecture and the way people move through it.
We choose plants for their real growing environment, not for a catalogue photograph.
We consider how the space will be used, not only how it will look.
We design for change and maturity, knowing that a garden is never really finished.
We think about care beyond installation, because the relationship with a living space does not end when the project does.
This is how values become decisions, and decisions become spaces.
Designing with nature
A space is not only what you see. It is light moving across a wall through the day. It is shade at different hours and different seasons. It is the way air moves through a courtyard, the way sound changes among planting, the way a room feels different when something living is part of it.
Design without horticulture can create a space that looks right but doesn't grow well. Horticulture without design can create a garden that thrives but doesn't belong to the place.
At Ratural, we bring the two together. We think about architecture and planting as one system - about how people will experience the space, how plants will develop over time, how materials and textures interact, how light and shade and seasonality shape the environment, and how all of these relationships evolve.
The result is not a garden added to a space. It is a space that has become part of its environment.
Designed. Created. Cared for.
Most projects are finished when they are installed. A living space is only beginning.
Plants mature. Seasons change. Light shifts. People discover new ways to use the space. What was once new becomes established, and what was established continues to develop.
This is why Ratural's relationship with a space does not necessarily end when the installation is complete. Through ongoing care, seasonal maintenance and thoughtful replenishment, we help the design remain healthy, balanced and beautiful as it grows.
Care is not an afterthought. It is part of the design.
Our ambition
Ratural began with a simple idea: that nature should be part of the places where we live, work and gather - not something separate from them.
That idea applies at every scale. A balcony. A terrace. A home. A workplace. A hotel. A community. A larger development. The philosophy doesn't change. Only the scale does.
Our ambition is to contribute to a future where nature is considered as part of everyday environments - where a living space is not a luxury or an exception, but a standard. Where the places where people live, work and gather are designed with nature from the beginning, and cared for over time.
We are not trying to build the biggest studio. We are trying to build the right one - one that helps more people experience what it feels like to live closer to nature.
What makes us different
Not just visual design. Not just plant expertise. The two work together from the start.
Light, heat, climate, space, usage and maintenance are considered before a single plant is chosen.
The design accounts for growth, seasons and change - not just the day of installation.
The relationship can continue through care and maintenance, so the space keeps developing.
